The Distant Land of My Father by Bo Caldwell has just been announced as Pasadena's 2007 pick for One City, One Story. It's a wonderful novel set in 1930s Shanghai and Southern California -- much of the action takes place in San Marino and Pasadena, with the main character even paying a visit to Vroman's Bookstore.
