Booker Shortlist Announced

The six finalists for the Man Booker Prize for fiction have been announced. They are:
Obviously, there were a couple of surprises, namely the omission of The Enchantress of Florence and Netherland. I'm happy I have a horse in this race, as I'm pulling for Aravind Adiga's dazzling, wildly entertaining The White Tiger. Thoughts on the shortlist, anyone?

I was stunned they left off Rushdie's latest as well as Netherland. But I LOVE White Tiger. We at BookPeople have been championing that book since before it even came out!

Fraction of a Whole is great too though. Haven't read the others...

Apparently, the Rushdie wasn't even close to the shortlist. Kind of surprising.

Not to ruin the surprise, but I'll be posting my podcast interview with Adiga next week.
